Discovering the Champion in you

September 18, 2015 by frankwaive 1 Comment

1 Peter 2:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light
Many times we put off what we know God wants us to do, maybe its a dream or hubby that God wants us to pursue like starting a business, learning a new hobby, joining the choir, we know God wants us to do these things on the inside but so often we make excuses on the inside. Things like am too busy, i tried and failed, am not that talented, its easy to talk ourselves out of them, but the truth is, God never aborts a dream. We may give up on them, quit believing we can overcome that obstacle but every dream every promise God put in your heart, he still has every intention of bringing it to pass
You’re not too old or too young, you’ve got to rise up in faith and pursue your destiny.
Do you see yourself as weak and beggarly, do you see yourself as too poor, too ugly, too weak to be anything? That is not the right way, in Proverbs 23:7a, the scriptures declare For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he
Don’t let one disappointment or even a series of disappointments make you give up and decide to settle where you are, you may have tried and failed a thousand times, you never know number 1001 may be the door that swings open wide, get your fire back!
Life may not have treated you fairly, but God is fair, and he’s not done with you yet! With this kind of attitude, the rest of your life can be the best of your life, If you stay in faith, one touch from is enough to change everything!
James 1:2–4
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing
Thats the way our God is, he knows how to make music out of trash, he can take the very thing that was meant to defeat you and make it something that leads to a testimony!
A champion is someone who has fought many times and won, A Champion would always face opposition, the good news is, he’ll come out victorious as well, Don’t be afraid of challenges, The life of a champion is a life of victories, conquer your world!

How to Install Laravel on a MAC with XAMPP

August 4, 2015 by frankwaive 52 Comments

If you’re reading this, chances are you are already in love with laravel, you probably have seen a couple of advantages laravel has over other frameworks, seen a tutorial video or read an article that has sparked your interest in laravel. However, loving laravel is one thing, installing it is another.

I personally got acquainted with laravel just before version 5 was released, but somehow I kept postponing diving into it, sadly, at the time I decided to, laravel 5 had been released and most of the instructions I found online for installation where either for a none XAMPP user or for version 4 for a XAMPP user and this was a pain!

So you don’t go spend so much time looking for a solution like I did, I’ve decided to be your knight in shinny armor, here’s how to install Laravel 5 on XAMMP for Mac OS X.

Requirements

      Terminal

    XAMPP

OSX by default has PHP pre-installed, so when you install XAMPP, you’ll actually be installing a second PHP version on your MAC. Your Computer decides which to use depending on if internet sharing is on (System preferences/sharing) or if xampp server is on and apache is started. To know which version of PHP you system is using by default, open terminal, run “which php” without the quotes.

If what you get IS NOT “/Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/bin/php”, here’s how to correct it

Create a file called .bash_profile on your home directory (if you don’t have this file already) from terminal, to do this run the following commands one line at a time

Cd /

Sudo nano .bash_profile

Then add this to the file:

export XAMPP_HOME=/Applications/XAMPP
export PATH=${XAMPP_HOME}/bin:${PATH}
export PATH

Then hold “Control X” when prompted to save type y and press enter
Then quit and relaunch Terminal.app.
To confirm if this has worked, run “which php” from terminal without the quotes, you should get this “/Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/bin/php”

Next step is to install composer, to do this, navigate to your XAMPP public folder from terminal (htdocs), to do this, type

cd /Applications/XAMPP/htdocs

to confirm you’re in the right place, type “ls” and hit enter without the quotes, compare the directory listing with the contents of the actual htdocs folder from finder, if they are the same, you’re on track.

To download and install composer type
“curl -s http://getcomposer.org/installer | php”
and hit enter without the quotes, composer will download and install

Now you can install laravel, to do this type the following without the quotes and hit enter

“composer create-project laravel/laravel --prefer-dist”

This will download and install the latest version of laravel on your htdocs folder, however, if you visit http://localhost/laravel/public you’ll find a blank screen, don’t panic, its just a folder permission issue. To fix this, in terminal type the following and hit enter

Cd /Applications/XAMPP/htdocs/laravel

After that, type the following ad hit enter

sudo chmod -R 7777 storage

try opening http://localhost/laravel/public again, you should now see the default laravel page.

If this didn’t work for you, leave a comment and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can!

Dear President Barack Obama

July 31, 2015 by frankwaive Leave a Comment

Dear President Barack Obama,
I know you’re a busy man, so am just going to get to it.
There are millions of people currently displaced and dying in Syria at the moment, mostly affected by this are women and children.

A conflict environment promotes poverty, crime, breeding of terrorism and many other wrong vices. Ignoring the Syrian conflict is equivalent to deliberately increasing future problems not just for Syria but the entire region and the United States; Young Syrians would grow up poor, uneducated and angry with you and the United States for deliberately letting them suffer.

You would not always be in in office, so now that You’re there, stop the bloodshed else posterity would remember you as the man who watched millions die and did not do enough to stop it, as the man who watched the future and lives of millions in Syria depreciate and cut short, as the man who allowed an enabling environment for terrorism to fester.

Please do something before you can no longer do anything about it.

With love from Nigeria

How to Transfer Your Voter Registration

Have you moved locations since the 2011 election? Here’s how you can transfer your existing registration to your current area.

Before doing anything do not forget to check your status. This will give you the most accurate information on your voting status and save you time at your local INEC office or polling unit.

  1. Write a letter to INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner of the State where you currently reside.
Attach your voter’s card to the letter
  2. Take the letter to the INEC office in your current Local Government Area
  3. This needs to happen no later than 30 days before the date of an election in your constituency
  4. Your application will be transferred to the Resident Electoral Commissioner, who will direct the Electoral Officer of the applicants Local Government Area who will action your query.
  5. The Electoral Officer will assign you to a polling unit in your constituency and issue you with a new voters card.

Lost/Damaged Voter Card

If your Temporary Voters Card is lost or damaged, take a photo ID and a passport photograph to the same polling unit where you registered/voted in 2011. Your Permanent Voters Card should be printed and ready for pick up.

How to choose a web designer – Web design Nigeria

December 27, 2013 by frankwaive 2 Comments

Over the years, I’ve been asked this same question over and over again, how do I decide which web designer to hire/employ? I’ve given several answers to this question both to prospective clients, organizations looking to hire a full-time web designer staff and other web workers.

The web design Nigeria market is quite crowded, with about 80% of the available options lacking the required skill and character set.

web design nigeria, warri web designer, web designer in Nigeria

“I believe that any decision to do business with a service provider should be guided by the capacity and character of such a service provider.”

Your prospective web designer should possess the following skills and characteristics

  • The ability to write code – Too many upcoming web designers these days are lazy, they never learnt to write code, even if they did, they’re not good at it and as such they can’t produce uniquely genuine designs, the copy works from other designers and sometimes even use templates designed by other designers, this category of designers mostly produce poor jobs and they charge pretty cheap too!
  •

  • Experience– While I believe fresh designers should be given a chance to show what they’re capable of doing, I would not want a web designer learning on the Job on my project, a web designer performing experiments with my project. I believe designs with experience, with a portfolio of past jobs should be top choice in your choice process. You could easily evaluate a web designer’s design capacity from his past projects.
  •

  • Business Oriented– Find a web designer that is interested in making his work achieve your business objectives, provide lead generation, increase sales and return of investment (ROI).

Here’s how I can help you

You could hire me! – Over the years, I’ve acquired the skill and character set required as stated above for web design projects, I would offer reliable business partnership

Free Consultation- I can also provide you with free consultation if you want.

Why an NGO should own a website

October 26, 2013 by frankwaive Leave a Comment

In a previous article, I had written on how to get a website, in this article, I’ll be majoring on Non government, non profit organizations (NGO’s), why they need a website, the immediate advatanges, how to take optimal advantage of a website if you already have one.

Communication is THE most important tool in promoting the cause(s) represented by any civil society organization(CSO), the internet is the fastest growing means of communication.

The power of the Internet as a means of communication which has now becomes an integrated part of our society can be largely harnessed by an NGO which has a website.

The ability to spread your ideas, tell the how you do what you do, why you do it, where you’re doing it, why you need assistance in doing it is key to the survival of any CSO and a website provides you with that opportunity to a limitless audience, unhindered by distance and time, a websites have become one of the most effective means of communication.

NGOs and CSOs should take advantage of this modern and effective means of communication.

Here’s a list of benefits of a website to NGOs and CSOs

A website is an avenue to create awareness about your organization, its mission, vision beliefs and efforts

A website is a Billboard without the limitation of location and space where you could tell anyone with Internet access whatever you please

A website would provide your organization the avenue to showcase what it has done, what it is currently doing, this could go a long way to help get new grants

A website would provide the world with your contact information, the fastest means of research now is the Internet, but organizations without websites would not benefit really from such research. Say a donor organization was looking for NGOs in your geographical area that do what you do, how would they find you?

A website could serve as a proof of legitimacy and functionality in some scenarios

A website would increase public respect and trust for your organization

A website would provide your organization with reliable custom email address, unlike yahoo and gmail, your email address would be [email protected]

A website is also deemed to be an environmentally friendly way of carrying out a campaign as it reduces waste, could reduce travel, reduce postage. So, if you are a socially and environmentally conscious organization, it becomes unimaginable to think that you can continue to do your operations without owning a website!

Take advantage of this medium now and get a website, you could contact me to either build one for your organization or for further information
